The Legal Aid Clinic of Bhavan’s PALSAR organised the National Workshop on “The Implementation of the ESI Scheme –Problems and Solutions” which was conducted on the 5th & 7th November 2016. The session was inaugurated by T.P.Ramakrishnan Hon’ble Minister for Labour & Excise

To ensure hassle free services to the stakeholders, all activities like Registration of Employer, Employees, payment of ESI Contribution and Benefit payments are now channeled through the largest e-governance program in India, the Project Panchdeep initiated by the ESIC. It also automates Medicare services to all insured people. This has not only brought in complete transparency in the system, it has empowered the stakeholders like never before. Each day close to 75 thousand people are benefiting from Project Panchdeep.

Even after all these facilities the Employees and Employers face difficulties in course of the implementation of the programme. These problems are to be sorted out and solutions are to be carried out to make the Scheme ideal.

In search of these, our students conducted a Survey in which they met about 500 employees to identify the problems they face. Simultaneously, the problems faced by the Employers were also identified. In order to find out the solutions, a Workshop was conducted. The Workshop is expected to bring forwards practical proposals for solving the problems.
